The Authorized Lockout/Tagout Training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely implement lockout/tagout procedures in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 regulations. This comprehensive training program covers essential aspects of energy control procedures to prevent the unexpected startup or release of hazardous energy during maintenance or servicing activities.  By the end of the Authorized Employee Lockout/Tagout Training, participants will possess the knowledge and competence to execute lockout/tagout procedures effectively, thereby minimizing the risk of workplace accidents, injuries, and fatalities associated with hazardous energy exposure.

Overview

This seminar will equip participants with the critical knowledge and skills needed to implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures effectively, ensuring workplace safety and compliance.

  • Understanding Lockout/Tagout Purpose & Scope – Learn how LOTO protects employees from hazardous energy sources, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, and thermal energy.
  • Identifying Authorized Employees – Understand the responsibilities and qualifications required to be designated as an authorized employee for LOTO procedures.
  • Recognizing Energy Sources – Gain the ability to identify hazardous energy sources in your workplace and assess their associated risks.
  • Mastering Lockout/Tagout Procedures – Follow a step-by-step process to safely isolate energy sources, apply locks and tags, verify isolation, and restore equipment to service.
  • Proper Use of LOTO Devices – Learn how to select, apply, and remove locks, tags, hasps, and other LOTO devices for different energy sources.

  • Scott Stone has more than 25 years of experience in the safety industry developing and managing safety management systems that resulted in driving cultural change for organizations.
  • Over his career, he has worked as a safety manager for outsource facilities and production maintenance organizations, worked in the safety services industry where he developed and successfully launched lockout/tagout services and worked in the safety management software industry.
  • Scott also has experience as a Six Sigma Black Belt where he applied advanced statistical and problem-solving techniques for process improvement.
  • Outside of work, he enjoys including boating, fishing, snowmobiling, and four wheeling with family and friends.
